It’s just their own wrong perception of themselves. There’s no cage. You can be yourself, no matter how you look like.</span><br/><br/><span>I’ve been listening too much to Peter Gabriel’s cover of “My Body is a Cage,” and badly wanted to add it to “Dangerous Curves,” but needed something that could convey the concept. Zebras are perfect: their stripes can look as bars of a cage. In this case, I just detailed her hands, muzzle and eyes because I needed her hands to be placed on her body, as if she was trying to cover herself, her eye for the sad gaze and her muzzle to make you see a face, after all. They usually have little resemblance to their animal counterpart. I managed to cope with this in the short story I’m writing by stating that those characters are the first of their kind and thus they still share a lot with humans, but I asked myself how they would look IRL.</p> <p>Since the picture I saw was that of a badger, I took Lillian and tried to make her look more animal-like, but the sketches weren’t very promising. So I just added a lot of fur on her limbs and instead tried to render her fur the way I used to do in the past: hair by hair. This time with charcoals.
